Latest Elna machine to impress is definitely this one: ) Got several Lotus & Star class examples, but this earlier Supermatic is doing everything right, right now: )

Was thinking I’d like to try a Grasshopper, but thought it might be good to try this one first: ) No regrets! I prefer a conventional foot control anyway.
This one came with its original steel case, plus some cams & feet etc. but had been standing for an unknown period: ) Nothing unusual there then? I found nothing stuck solid, just some general stiffness & a little stickiness in the needle swing, soon freed with oil, & the heatwave at the time definitely helped.
Had some problems with certain double discs not working correctly at first, but more continued use fixed that! I was concerned in case the ‘Elnagraph’ needed adjustment, but my patience paid off. I detect no problems now with the most complicated cams producing perfect stitches at speed. It’s impressive to watch!
The machine itself has all its controls close together, just the upper tension is handily right above the needle. I like the neat, smooth, rounded design, large harp space, but not the actual colours… Necchi was better at colours.
