Recent online find here. Always chancy relying on photographs & ‘descriptions’ but this one turned out to be a bargain. Fine cosmetics & mechanical condition but missing most accessories except for an embroidery/free motion foot & feed cover plate. It came with an incorrect power plug, (this machine needs an earthed plug for safe use) but trying stitching by hand produced a wonderful straight stitch first try! Very reassuring: )
The machine turns out to be 1948 & well looked after, clean inside & deserving of preservation. Said to be the first domestic, portable, freearm. In 1940! Around a million made until 1952, which is quite a feat in wartime Europe.

This machine was intended as a winter project for me, but all it really needs is a safe, original plug & some accessories, which are on the way, with another machine said to be working also. Hopefully I’ll end up with a spare machine to play with, or sell to recoup some of my outlay, & this machine will have most of its original accessories again. The main missing item for me is the gear reducer, which is a simple clip-on by the belt drive. The Accessory Box & feet plus the correct power plug will be most useful: ) Only items missing then will be the 2 original ‘oilers’, one of which is for Kerosene apparently for the hook assembly ‘lubrication’… Well, I won’t be using Kerosene as a lubricant & I’ve got good oilers anyway.
