I’ve already got a nice 522 & 524 Lycia but recently came across this one online, looking good & underpriced. Winter project maybe?
Bought it anyway & pictured here after a clean & service:

In fair order after a period of storage, but only needed the Hand-wheel/Clutch freeing, happily: )
Only when I compared it with my 522 it was clearly, obviously different. Innocent me didn’t realise there were different Lycias! (Made in Italy & white..)

(522 left here, 524 right)
Differences? No chromed foot tensioner adjuster on top of my original two.
The squared off noses are clearly different with the BUL having the numbered slot in the nose.
The upper harp space is straight compared to the curve of the BUL.
The difference surprised me but I much prefer the curvy look of the earlier BUL. Reminds me of the Supernovas, but I shouldn’t be surprised at that?

The slab of the nose on the other two, compared to this one?? No contest in my head; )
Looking online for more examples, they are few & far between in UK & elsewhere. Maybe only produced for a short while before ‘upgrading’? I’ll be interested to find out.
This one has an unfamiliar to me Necchi foot controller. PAK Type B7 6312

Came as original equipment on this machine & may well help to date it. I’m thinking 1955/6/7 right now.
What do you reckon, Ian?
